Applying to the Ph.D. and M.A. programs

Dear Prospective Student:

Thank you for your interest in the School of Geographical Sciences M.A. or Ph.D. degree programs. Applications for admission to graduate degrees must be made on-line at http://www.asu.edu/graduate/admissions/. We strongly encourage prospective students with Bachelor degrees to apply directly to the Ph.D. program.

You must submit GRE quantitative and verbal scores. Instructions on taking the GRE tests can be found at http://www.asu.edu/uts/e_gre.htm. Scores should be submitted to the ASU Graduate Admissions Office, University Number #4007. If English is not your native language, you must submit TOEFL scores. Send all transcripts directly to Laura Grosso (Laura.Grosso@asu.edu), Geography Coordinator Senior, at the address below, along with three recommendation letters.

A Geography Questionnaire is included in the ASU on-line application system . If you have difficulty accessing the questionnaire during your on-line application, it is also available here and should be sent directly to Laura Grosso.

We accept graduate applications throughout the year. However, we will start making financial aid offers for Fall 2009 in the form of teaching and research assistantships in early February 2009. Financial aid favors Ph.D applicants. Owing to the time it takes to process applications, we recommend that you complete your application by January 1, 2009.

If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me (ohuallachain@asu.edu). Please include the ASU program you are applying to on the Subject Line of your e-mail message.

Sincerely,
