MAS-GIS Degree Requirements
Enrolling students must complete three sequential semesters of coursework totaling 30 graduate credit hours.
- The first semester, beginning in the fall, is composed of six two-credit hour modules:
- GPH 601 - Introduction to GIS Theory and Practice
- GPH 602 - Intermediate GIS Theory and Practice
- GPH 603 - Spatial Modeling and Statistics
- GPH 604 - GIS Implementation in the Corporate and Public Sectors
- GPH 605 - GIS Project
- GPH 606 - GIS Project Presentation
- Students in the spring semester must complete one mandatory and three elective 15-week advanced courses, each worth 3 credit
hours:
- GPH 610 - Programming the GIS Environment
- GPH 620 - Air Photo Interpretation
- GPH 630 - Remote Sensing
- GPH 640 - GIS for the Internet
- GPH 650 - GIS and Business
- During the final semester, which takes place during an 8-week summer session, students must complete 6 credit hours of internship in a GIS or closely-allied position (GPH 684).
